    Good camera, rubbish instructions. I struggled sooooo much to install this. I think the “plug and play” expression in the description is very very very optimistic. The instruction manual is written in bad english and the camera comes without a ethernet cable (or “twisted pair cable”, as defined in the manual), so you really need to be prepared to some swearing and sweating before you can enjoying the camera. Now that it is up and running it seems to be working fine so i think that eventually i will be happy, but i was very very close to give up andreturn it.

    It’s taken me best part of a week to get this thing to work. For starters, the instructions are in really bad english. They’ve been translated from chinese, but they don’t make easy reading. Fortunately, there are pictures. Then the first app i tried for the ipad turned out to be entirely in chinese and no english at all?. The second one worked better. Getting the camera onto the network via the ethernet cable was easy enough. Getting it onto the wifi was not so. Once set up on the ethernet, it’s straightforward enough to enter the wifi network and password in.

    Nice camera with poor installation instructions. This is a very good ip camera but really hard to understand initially how to get it set up for someone who has not played around with this sort of camera before. Having gone through the pain of getting it working i am very happy with it and used it over christmas to monitor my home whilst away at relatives. I particularly like the email function that sends you an email with a snapshot image if it detects movement around the camera. It also has a nice set of functionality for remembering set views so that you can realign the camera to a pre-set view at the click of a button. I used this to enable my camera to look out of the window so that i could monitor the weather outside my home and watch the street too. I was able to simply log onto a web address and view my camera via a web browser. Very good, very useful just a shame that it is so hard to get it working properly in the first place.

    Five star camera let down by poor power adapter. This is a joint review mainly of the t7838 wip camera but also includes the android nvs-k200 display device, both by vstarcam. (though the display device is temporarily unavailable as i post the review). The camera is a smart looking well designed remote controlled camera. I find it rather reminiscent of r2d2, particularly when the camera is panning. The images from the camera are transmitted wirelessly and can be viewed on a variety of devices, windows, ios and android (phones and tablets) as well as the dedicated nvs-200 display screen, more of which later. The camera packaging promotes the camera as suitable for a wide range of applications, from retail shop security systems through to home use as a baby monitor. It is the sort of thing you’d see in a shop, but the styling doesn’t look out of place at home. Initial set-up and network connection requires a wired link, but once the set-up is completed the camera is operated wirelessly. As it requires power to be connected via the supplied mains adapter this, and the range of your wifi signal will determine where you can locate the camera.
