Review and Buying Guide Olympus OM-D E-M10 Double Zoom Kit

I owned an unique om movie digicam. And now it really is back again to the potential in a lesser and smarter digital outfit. A true treat and a marvellous little piece of timeless layout and uncompromising engineering. The best companion if you do not want a complete dimensions dslr.

My initially 35mm movie camera was an olympus, an om10, i’ve beloved them at any time considering that. I’ve an om20, om1, digital pen e-p1, sp100ee and have a vg170 with me normally, just in circumstance. This is the ideal nonetheless, for straight for pictures, arty-farty stuff or in minimal gentle.

This is my entry into milc (mirrorless interchangeable-lens) cameras, an up grade from a canon powershot sx ten bridge digicam. I was looking for a camera that is just as practical, with a see-finder and a developed-in flash, and this digicam has it all. It looks and feels like a shrunk dslr. With the kit lens, it is much more compact and lighter than a bridge digital camera (albeit missing out on the lengthy telezoom variety). Definitely not ‘pocket sized,’ although. The look at-finder is great really sharp with loads of facts. (so substantially, in reality, that you can push the details button to cycle by several webpages of info, if you want)the camera wants to be found, nevertheless. The manual is incredibly temporary, so often you have to go menu-hunting to find sure choices. Two dials, many buttons and numerous information are configurable, letting you to set up the camera for your advantage, if you invest the time.

I’m delighted with this digital camera. Been an olympus user given that shopping for my first slr (om1) in the 70’s. I’m delighted with this camera. The retro styling is terrific, the pop up flash developed to appear like the pantaprism suggests the mirrorless process maintains the slr appears. The create good quality is wonderful – all steel – but incredibly compact and lightweight and the picture top quality is what you would expect from olympus. Picked digital camera up and shutter wouldn’t hearth. Then realised front wheel has arrive off physique so will require to return to olympus for fix.

Olympus OM-D E-M10 Double Zoom Kit with Power Zoom Pancake M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-42mm & 40-150mm R Lens – Black (16.1MP, Live MOS) 3.0 inch Tiltable LCD : Many features not yet tried. Not had too much time to evaluate yet but construction seems very solid, resolution very good. Many features not yet tried. I would agree with a previous reviewer that the on/off switch is a bit fiddly.

Excellent performance from such a small camera. Excellent performance from such a small camera. I may have to purchase another grip to use with longer and heavier lenses but for now it is fine with 150mm lens. Looking forward to exploring the functions and it is a great addition to my 2 pen bodies. My previous system cameras have been canon eos and olympus 4/3rds e420 and 500 and the weight saving is unbelievable. I am very pleased with my purchase and hope to sell off some of my previous kits to finance additional lenses.

Great little camera with some great features. I am a keen amateur photographer and member of my local camera club. I purchased this as i wanted something lighter and more “pocketable” than my current digital slr set up. I have always been curious about the m4/3rd system and after talking to my retired ex-pro photographer father i thought why not go for it. So took the plunge and ordered this as i had won some vouchers through work. Ordered the body and lenses separately along with a couple of spare batteries and a circular polariser (the one thing that even photoshop can’t filter, think of it as sunglasses for your camera a circ pl makes blue skies bluer, white clouds whiter). I decided to go for the mk1 rather than the mk2 as it just felt more comfortable in my hand but this is a personal choice not a criticism of the mk2. So far so good small, compact, lightweight and the few test shots i have rattled off look fantastic, i really want to get out with it and go on a shoot for a day but first impressions are this is a great little camera. The art filters look like you can have some serious fun with them and the images rival those of my sony a350 dslr (14. The menu appears to be a little quirky but you get used to it (one thing nearly all the reviews say is the olympus menus are quirky/take getting used to etc). Be advised the manual comes on a cd you literally get a quick start guide in the multi language manual (something that seems to be par for the course now though). If you want something light and portable but with the versatility of interchangeable lenses then the olympus omd range is the way forward, built in image stabilisation (allows for hand held shots at lower shutter speeds/low light levels) built in sensor cleaning (if i recall correctly olympus actually developed built in sensor cleaning) and yep the camera with the 14-42mm lens really does fit in the palm of my hand. I would not hesitate to recommend this camera to anyone either starting out in photography or upgrading from a more simple point and shoot, or like me if you are looking to change from a dslr set up to something more portable or just want it as an alternative for when you don’t want to lug a heavyweight body and lenses around with you.

Read it buy it youll love it. I have not had a micro 4/3 camera before. I have had numerous digital cameras of various makes and models but since finding the om series of 35mm film cameras and owning a number of them, i decided to try one of their digital cameras. I was recommended this series, by a friend who has the em5 mark 2. I have had this camera a number of months now and i just love it. It is so easy to use and does all the things and more that i want a camera to do. I am not a professional in any sense of the word just an experienced amateur. The tilting screen on this model is very useful for example in crowd situations or where you arent the tallest and theres other people and things in front of you. The size of the camera is just right, it firs nicely into a small dslr camera bag, it fits into my pocket on combat trousers and jackets and isnt heavy even with a few lenses in a rucksack or bag.

Best camera i have ever owned (and i’ve had a few). Excellent viewfinder with all the info you need displayed well. Controls took a bit of getting used to but didn’t take long for it to become second nature.

I am an enthusiastic amateur photographer. This camera is just so good. Excellent range of settings and modes. The best digital camera i have owned. I have programmed 3 settings. It is easy to switch between them. The super control panel was daunting, but is easily mastered. These photos were both taken with the m. I have posted another in my review of the 40-150mm lens.

This camera is a delight to handle and use. What can i say, this camera is a delight to handle and use. I have a sneaking suspicion if i had known about it prior to purchasing my equally fantastic pentax k3 six months ago, it’s size, abilities and portability might have made the choice very difficult. One minor drawback imo, is the price of the “top end” lenses is very high. While they are of excellent optical quality and third party vendors are increasing both the kit and the lower end lenses coupled with this camera are not as good in low light as say pentax. The photo of my dog was taken hand held at 1600 iso f4. 9 and remarkably 1/10 of a second which speaks volumes for the is system as i am 70 years old. The second photo taken in my garden on a fairly dull december day was 1000 iso, f5. 6 and 1/80th sechowever i have them both now and am very glad for that. 🙂 don’t be fooled by the fact it has an evf this is one serious bit of kit and i love the brilliantly accomplished evf as much as i do the pentax ovf.

The em 10 lives up to all that olympus stands for. Build quality is good and most important picture quality matches the standard of most dslrs.

A superb camera – i’ll never go back to an slr. I had been using nikon slr’s for a few years and had dismissed mirrorless cameras as being inferior. I am a very keen amateur photographer and had invested in quite a few lenses plus other pieces of kit. That said, the weight and bulk of slr’s are always a bit of an annoyance and so i fancied looked at mirrorless cameras which were gaining some positive reviews. I’m the kind of person that does a lot of research (magazines, youtube, web etc ) and i boiled my choice down to the olympus om-d em10 and the sony a6000 which it is often compared to. I went and tried both out and the olympus won me over. Stunning retro form factor asides, the main thing for me was the huge range of micro four thirds lenses versus the closed sony system. If you are into photography at all then this alone will swing it for you as you are locked in to sony whereas the more open micro four thirds system will let you have other makes of camera and keep the lenses that you have invested in. I have been using the om-d em10 for a few months now and it has been absolutely stellar. I got it with the pancake lens and a 40-150 zoom which both take lovely photos.
