    Canon sx 710 hs – first class compact. I recently bought the canon powershot sx710hs to accompany my dslr – one drawback. There isn’t any thumb rest but i have used this camera more than my dslr over the weeks – the dials are easy to see and operate and the menu is easy to navigate. Very happy with the quality of the photos and video – there is no usb cable so you can download your pictures onto the computer – you can download wifi or take out the sd card and put into the sd slot on the computer. Images are quite sharp at the long end of the zoom – macro is terrific. Would not hesitate in recommending this to anyone.

It was a hard decision to make choosing this camera considering there were so many in the market that looked better and had better features. But we were looking for one that (1) met our budget requirements (2) took good photographs. I haven’t extensively used this yet but hopefully in the future. If you want to use with flash, pics do come out better in program mode with flash than in auto mode with flash. From my point of view, below are the pros and cons. Clear and sharp photographs that look realistic when taken in natural light2. I compared this to other cameras and you could literally read tiny descriptions written on medicine boxes. I was amazed as to how clearly i could read the words from a distance. Those words that were s far i could not read even with my naked eye.

The camera itself doesn’t look particularly expensive or different from any other camera, but i am fairly pleased with its performance. This camera has a 30x zoom which means you can can get up close and personal with most photos you are trying to take. Something called zoom framing assistance is supposed to help with maintaining the clarity at bigger zoom levels – all i know is that it does produce good pictures at a high zoom – surprisingly so – so it would appear that this works. 3 megapixel – i personally think this is a bit too much – as in lower light conditions it does seem to suffer in terms of clarity. The flash is simple to use, but you do have to manually pop it up to use it. This means that you can put an app on your mobile phone / other deives and then link the camera to them.
