Leaving the cameras set up overnight we can monitor the nocturnal goings-on we would otherwise be unaware of – visiting badgers, deer passing through, a magnificent stag, wild boar and, last autumn, the cameras made us aware of a family of baby hedgehogs born in our woodshed whom we were able to save and are now watching their mum who has returned following hibernation. The cameras are left unattended, equipped with a supply of aa batteries, sd memory card and then check them periodically and enjoy the photos and/or videos captured, all date and time-stamped so we know what happens and when. They work in any conditions: daylight, after dark and are weatherproof. Battery life is good and keep the camera in a low-power standby mode until the pir sensors are activated which triggers the camera into action to take a still photo or record a video. This camera is different in design and set-up to all of our others so we were especially keen to try it out and see how it compared. The camera is well made from a durable plastic with loops for securing it, via the supplied webbing strap, to a tree, post, stump or other object but. Disappointingly, there is no tripod socket.

The customer service through email is very good but i need a camera urgently to for an empty property so opted to return the camera and buy another one. The three stars is because even though i liked the camera the night pics were unusable. The life of the battery’s was good , but the instruction book could be better.

However, the pir did not operate correctly, resulting in photos every 5 seconds despite changing the settings. Eventually annke asked for it to be returned and replaced it with a different model (c304 instead of the c303 due to the latter being discontinued) which has a better resolution but the operation is less logical than the 303. Also, the operating manual is in german and annke will not provide a hard copy in english so i need to download and print it off the internet – not good for customer relations. I also only received half of the return postage because i did not use the specified company – my fault but nevertheless, i would have thought i should have received a full refund in view of the circumstances. Due to these issues, i am only providing three stars rather than five.

    Image quality both day time and ir are acceptable but the pir seems a bit slow to trigger. It seems sturdy enough and the weather sealing seems to be satisfactory. Overall it’s ok if you are just setting this up in your garden but i wouldn’t recommend it for any serious surveys out in the field as it really eats batteries; i only managed to get only two nights out of a brand new set and even less if it was cold which was quite disappointing. It would certainly be worth getting the 12 v mains power supply as his will save a fortune,.

        Initially impressed as took excellent night time videos. However it suddenly stopped taking videos and would only take still images despite being in video mode. Photos are good but nothing beats a moving picture.I emailed the company who weren’t especially helpful as i was told to check that it really was in the correct setting. I ordered another camera to replace the original and although it records, the night pics are saturated with light. Strange as the original purchase that stopped working didn’t have this problem. It looks like there are a few different glitches with what could be a really good, affordable product.

    I am a recent purchaser of this camera and i am still feeling my way with it. Like one of the other reviewers i accidentally left it on “set” and it ate the batteries. I will be e-mailing the seller to seek simple instructions for settings on how to turn it off during the day. I find it much more difficult to set up than it’s predecessor. Having been critical, it’s images are very good – unsurpassed in daylight (especially early morning and late evening) and good in infra red.

      This is an okay camera with many plus points as the other positive reviews here indicate. I have bought a coupe so feel it has merits, including good value, reasonable trigger time, clever setting options, and reasonable quality visuals. The downsides are the limited illumination range at night and the external timer and counter. It really is dumb to have this externally – if you’re filming sensitive wildlife some critters may well be alert to the movement (the counter with moving numbers) on the front screen. As ever for these cams, for a bit more money there are better options on the illumination range and the film quality.
