    Easy to set up and really clear pictures/videos. The only downside is it picks up every slight movement so we are getting hundreds of photos which you have to view to see if you’ve caught any wildlife on camera (hopefully when its not so windy there will be less movement in the garden). Having said that it’s still early days and we’re experimenting with it but so far we love it.

This review is for the amcrest atc-801 720p hd game and trail hunting camera – 8mp dynamic capture, integrated 2″ lcd screen, high-sensitivity motion detection with long range infrared led night vision up to 65ftit arrived in a coloured photographed box. Inside are the camera, small remote control with included battery, a webbed strap for attachment to trees or posts, with plastic block to allow angling, a usb-micro type a to usb cable, an av lead, warranty card and a booklet of instructions containing diagrams and black and white pictures. There were no batteries or sd card as expected. I used a sandisk 32gb class 10 with no issues. Its about 15 cm x 8cm x 5 cm in size. I’ve used a little acorn camera before and this is similar being its colour during the day and black and white at night or in low light levels. There are plenty of setting for video and or/stills. Image quality is good for a camera at this price level. The listing states 4 or 8 aa batteries. The instruction states which 2 slots to use to run on four batteries. It would be best to use 8 though. Use rechargeable or buy in bulk packs of 10. There is also a socket for a 6v power supply.

Here in the uk you are likely to see birds, foxes, perhaps even a badger – or maybe if you live in the right area, a wild cat (the endangered scottish wild cat was recently photographed just this week on a night time animal cam) if you’re on holiday this would be pretty cool to see what kind of exotic wildlife you get in the night, and overall is a really fun feature. I think there are better options for cctv, but for animal and wildlife photography this is an excellent idea. The camera itself is decent quality, 720p and 8mp, so around the same quality that my iphone can do (pretty decent. Better than a lot of budget digital cameras, but not full hd or quality enough that you’d want for cctv or professional images). It takes up to 32gb sd card (not included, and it won’t read a 64gb card unfortunately) and then in the morning you can just nip out to it and check if the card has captured anything interesting. It mounts easily – you can attach it to a tripod or external fixture through the bottom (tripod not included), or you can mount it to a tree or post via the strap included with a latch and belt so suitable for most sizes. You can also just nestle it on the ground, in front of a nest or den for example.
